ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford College Women’s Soccer team continued its solid start to the season defeating the Eureka College Red Devils 6-2 on Saturday and improving its record to 3-1. After missing on some good looks early in the match, the Regents got on the board in the 32nd minute of the first half taking a lead which they would not relinquish. Rockford continued to put pressure on the Eureka defense scoring 2 more goals in the first half taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. The Regents continued to build on the momentum they had built in the first half scoring another goal less than five minutes into the second half. Rockford added 2 more goals in the second half giving them a 6-0 lead and eventually cruised to a 6-2 victory.
Rockford College was again led by the freshman duo of Callie Schmidt (Rockford, Ill./ Jefferson) and Alexa Torman (Morengo, Ill./ Morengo). Schmidt scored back-to-back goals to close out the first half and open the scoring in the second half. She also assisted on Torman’s second goal midway through the second half of the match.
