Rockford, Ill., –  For the 16th consecutive year, new Rockford College students will roll up their sleeves and ‘plunge’ into the Rockford community by volunteering with local organizations on Saturday, August 27, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Students will be working on a wide variety of tasks at locations throughout the city. This year’s Plunge includes the following locations: Rockford Rescue Mission, Burpee Museum, Discovery Center, YMCA Camp Winnebago, and Aldeen Park. Joining the new students each year are returning students, faculty and staff member of the college.

"The Plunge” not only helps new students experience different areas of the city first hand and but also carries on the legacy of the college’s most famous alumna, Jane Addams, by participating in service to their new community. Every incoming student spends at least four hours volunteering at local agencies.
