Education Instructor for the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford

  • Plan, develop, implement, evaluate and supervise developmentally appropriate educational and academic programs, activities and special events including Boys & Girls Club of Rockford programs.
  • Programs include Power Hour program (homework assistance and tutoring program) and Project Learn activities (high-yield learning activities).
  • Responsibilities:
      • Reports to Unit Director/Assistant Director
      • Plans and implements activities and programs for youth ages 5-17.
      • Provides necessary program documentation for all programs implemented.
      • Plans educational and academic activities for youth.
      • Implements and supervises the Power Hour program and Project Learn.
      • Records academic achievements.
      • Maintains accurate attendance records following program procedures and guidelines.
      • Enforces membership expectations and applies appropriate consequences.
      • Follows all program policies and procedures and reports concerns.
      • Assists with cleaning, organizing and preparing bulletin boards and displays in the Youth Program areas.
      • Reports all absences to Unit Director.
      • Supervises youth during field trips and special events as needed.
      • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
      • Education and/or Teaching background with experience preferred.
      • Must have experience working with youth and coordinating activities.
      • Must be able to work hours based upon youth program schedules.
      • Must have or be able to acquire up-to-date CPR, First Aid and Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Training.
      • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
        • Ability to relate successfully with youth, parents and staff.
        • Knowledge and skill in effective and appropriate supervision of youth.
        • Must be able to work with a diverse population.
        • Ability to organize varied functions and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
        • Ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment and meets program guidelines, goals and objectives.
        • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate educational and academic activities for youth.
        • Ability to work in a team environment.
