ROCKFORD, Ill. - Mother Nature forced unprecedented changes to the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Tournament. Friday morning’s rain originally forced the postponement of several games. The continued precipitation has now forced a change of venue and format for the tournament that will determine the NAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.
The games have been moved from Road Ranger Stadium in Loves Park, Illinois to two separate locations for Saturday’s first four games. Two games will be played at both Solfisburg Park in Aurora, Illinois and the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Game One will feature number one seed Concordia University Chicago facing fourth seeded Benedictine University at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex. Meanwhile, Game Two pits second seed Aurora University against Concordia University Wisconsin at Solfisburg Park. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.at both locations.
As the number one seed, Concordia Chicago’s result in Game One will determine the locations of Games Three and Four. If the Cougars win, they host the winner of Game Two between Aurora and Concordia Wisconsin at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex in Game Three. The losers of Games One and Two will then play at Soflisburg Park for Game Four. If Concordia loses, Game Three will pit the winners of Games One and Two at Solfisburg Park, while the losers Games One and Two will meet at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex. Games Three and Four are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
Sunday’s games are tentatively scheduled to be played at Aurora, Illinois’s Solfisburg Park at 9:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. if necessary.
