Dr. Rekha Pande, internationally recognized expert on women’s studies to offer lecture at RC

Rockford, Ill. –Dr. Rekha Pande, Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies and a professor in the Department of History at the University of Hyderabad, India, will speak in Fisher Memorial Chapel, Rockford College Campus, 5050 East State Street, Rockford, Ill., on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 7 p.m. Her visit is co-sponsored by Rockford College and Sunil Puri, (’82), Rockford College alumnus and trustee. The event is free and open to the public. Fisher Chapel is accessible.
Dr. Pande’s work is in the interdisciplinary area of history and women’s studies. Her lecture will focus on the women’s movement in India. A discussion period with audience participation will follow and include Professor Pande’s book, Women in Nation Building: a Multidimensional Perspective, 2007 (ed).
Dr. Pande has published journals and delivered lectures and presented papers in India and numerous countries including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Australia, U.K. France, Amsterdam, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Canada and USA.
