ROCKFORD — Rockford College President Robert Head has accepted a new three-year contract from the college’s board of trustees.
"Dr. Head has provided great leadership to the college during his first three years, and the board is very pleased that his contract has been renewed for another three-year period,” board Chairman Dave Rydell said in a news release earlier this month.
"In addition to being very engaged with the college, Robert and his wife, Sheryl, have also become active members in the greater Rockford community, serving on several boards of not-for-profits.”
Head is the 17th president of Rockford College. His new contract will run through the completion of the 2013-14 academic year.
The college is experiencing solid enrollment numbers for the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters. Spring undergraduate enrollment is at its highest level in nine years, resulting in an 8 percent increase in full-time undergraduate students compared with last year.
"It is an honor to serve Rockford College,” said Head in the news release. "I truly enjoy working with our faculty, staff, students, alumni, board and friends to strengthen our institution and to expand our impact within higher education.
"I am excited to continue to move forward with a strategic planning process designed to further enhance the college’s 163-year legacy in Rockford of providing an outstanding education for its students.”
