Regents Run with Badgers at Division I Event

MADISON, Wis. - The Running Regents continued their season success on Friday at University of Wisconsin-Madison Red and White Open, where they competed against Division I competition.
For the sixth straight meet, school records and personal records have been broken.
After missing the first indoor meet, freshman Genesis Cerrato(Las Vegas, Nev./ Valley) has broken a school record in every meet since. She has broken the Distance Medley Relay record, 800m record, mile record, and 3,000m run record establishing herself as one of the best female runners to come to Rockford College.
At the Red and White Open, Cerrato ran a 5:40.42 which broke her own school record in the Mile by four seconds. Later, she came back and ran in the 800m with a time of 2:35.67 breaking the previous record by over 10 seconds.
Fellow freshman Barbara Duffy (Tampico, Ill./ Prophetstown) ran 4 different events in an extremely busy day in which she had a combined rest of 45 minutes. Duffy still managed to break the 400m record by 5 seconds running a 1:05.09.
Other highlights included junior Tyler Mendenhall (Prophetstown, Ill./ Prophetstown) and freshman Tim Caudle (Lillington, N.C./ Overhills), who broke their personal records in the Mile. Mendenhall ran a time of 4:47.73, breaking his personal record by a second, while Caudle broke his by 7 seconds finishing with a time of 4:49.42.
The Running Regents will take test themselves against the best in the Northern Athletics Conference on Saturday, when they travel to Naperville, Ill. for the NAC Championships.
