Regents Run at Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Running Regents traveled thru a blizzard and heavy winds on their way to Allendale, Michigan to compete in the Grand Valley State University Big Meet on Saturday February, 12th.

First on the track was freshman Genesis Cerrato (Las Vegas, Nev./ Valley) running in the 3k. She crushed the 3k school record by over 15 seconds, running a personal record (PR) of 11:23.5. Cerrato later returned in the mile and broke the school mile record by over 21 seconds, running a 5:44.41.

Ashley Eggert (Machesney Park, Ill./ Harlem), who previously held the mile record, ran a 14 second season’s best and personal record in the mile running a 5:51.78.

Junior Tyler Mendenhall (Prophetstown, Ill./ Prophetstown), freshman Tim Caudle (Lillington, N.C./ Overhills), and junior David Gray (Erie, Ill./ Erie) all set either personal records or season’s best in their 3k run. Mendenhall ran to a 9:29.01, setting a 14 second PR also jumping to the 4th best all-time, Caudle running to a 9:56.31 setting a 26 second PR, and Gray running to a 10:32.55 establishing a 20 second season’s best run.

Sophomore Jorge Gonzalez (Plano, Ill./ Plano) also captured a 3 second PR of 5:03.39 in the mile.

The Running Regents compete at UW-Madison in the Red and White Open on Friday, February, 18th. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
