Rockford College hires football, soccer coaches

ROCKFORD — Rockford College has filled two of its coaching vacancies, naming Vic Wallace as the fifth head coach in the football program’s 11-year history, and hiring Scott Westbrook to take over the women’s soccer team.

Wallace inherits a football program that finished the 2010 season 0-10.

He comes to Rockford College with nearly 35 years of experience at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels. His overall head coaching record of 176-109-5 has included nine conference championships and 10 national playoff appearances, including one finals appearance and four trips to the semifinals.

Wallace has also been named conference Coach of the Year seven times and NAIA Region IV National Coach of the Year twice.

Most recently, Wallace spent 15 years as head coach at NAIA Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. He also had head coaching stints at Div. III University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and NAIA William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo.

Wallace was also an assistant coach at Texas Tech and Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis.

Westbrook takes over a soccer program that finished the 2010 campaign 1-15-3.

He played professionally as well as coached at the Div. I, II, III, NAIA and high school levels dating back to the early 1980s.

Most recently he coached at NAIA Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.

Rockford College also hired Keith Garnett as its athletic trainer.
