Malone Nets National Honor

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The recent play of Rockford College men’s basketball player Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) was not only recognized by the Northern Athletics Conference but it has also gained national attention.
Malone, a senior forward, was recently named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week for his performance. Malone led the Regents to a 2-0 week and averaged 29.5 points and 11 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes of both games. The physical education major led Rockford to its first defeat of longtime rival Aurora University in six years with his 30 point, 13 rebound performance. He followed that with a 28 point, nine rebound display against Marian.
Malone currently leads the Regents in scoring (24.9 points per game), good for 5th in the nation through December 12. He also tops the Regents in rebounding (9.3 points per game), blocks (1.2 blocks per game), and steals (2.3 steals per game).
The Regents (5-4, 3-1 NAC) will take a break from conference play and welcome the North Central University Rams to Seaver Center on Saturday, December 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
