*Assist in preparing, delivering and maintaining lab materials for class or research studies
Carries out non-technical experimental procedures and analyses
Applies proper use of lab equipment and proper lab procedures
Prepares solutions of common chemicals
Cleans laboratory materials and equipment
Assists in taking lab instrument readings
Duties include: weekly swipe tests, weekly eye-wash tests, packing tips and tubes for autoclaving, changing water in vacuum pump, maintaining tissue culture facility, preparation of standard lab solutions using established protochols, preparation of standard lab growth media using established protocols, pouring bacterial culture plates, assisting lab personnel and operating basic lab equipment (balance, pH meter, autoclave).
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
Basic undergraduate course work in the sciences, underway or completed, is strongly recommended. Studdent will be trained in the performance of the above duties. Some experience, technical knowledge, and/or previous training consistent with enrollment in a chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology program is preferred. Student may be asked to take laboratory safety courses online.
