Regents Baseball to Host Winter Camps

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The two-time Northern Athletics Conference champion Rockford College Regents baseball team have announced dates for their annual winter baseball camps.  A youth camp for 6-14 year-old players will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, December 22-23 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Seaver Center on the campus of Rockford College.  A high school hitters camp will be held on Tuesday, December 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and a high school pitchers camp on Tuesday, December 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Dog Pound in Machesney Park, Ill.  Registration fee for each of the camps is $60 and includes a Rockford College Baseball t-shirt. 

The youth camp will focus on fundamental of the game, including hitting, throwing, base running, and fielding.  The hitter’s camp will feature improve hitting mechanics through a variety of drills with ballistic training.  The high school pitcher’s camp will focus on mechanics, velocity enhancement, off-speed pitches, grips, pick-offs, and P.F.P. 

Lead instructor at the camp will be Regents Head Coach Bob Koopmann.  In his three years as Regents head coach, Rockford is 110-57-1, including two post-season NAC championships and one regular season crown.  In addition to his Rockford duties, Koopmann is also in his second stint as manager for the Rockford RiverHawks, during the first of which the RiverHawks won the Frontier League Championship.  Coach Koopmann will be assisted by the Regents baseball coaching staff and several current and former Regents players.
