ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rockford College senior Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) continued his torrid pace last week and was, again, named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. Malone becomes just the third men’s player in the five-year history of the NAC to go back-to-back as NAC Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior forward led Rockford to a 2-0 week, including a win over Aurora University that broke a six year losing streak to the Spartans. In that game, which was also Rockford’s home opener, Malone recorded his second 30 point, 13 rebounds game, while also recording five assists. In Saturday’s 97-84 win at Marian University, the physical education major score 28 points, grabbed nine boards, and recorded four steals.
On the season, Malone ranks first in the NAC in scoring (24.0 ppg), second in rebounding (9.7 rpg.), and fourth in steals (2.6 spg.), while playing a conference leading 3637 minutes per game.
Malone and the Regents will return to the court on Wednesday, December 8 when they welcome the Dominican University Stars to the Seaver Center for a 7:00 p.m. game.
