FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Rockford College women’s basketball team had its three game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 57-53 loss at Marian University. The loss dropped the Regents to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
Throughout the streak, Rockford used 49% shooting from the field to outshoot their opponents. Unfortunately for the Regents, as the temperatures turned cold, so did their shooting. Rockford connected on just eight field goals and committed 13 turnovers en route to a 32-22 halftime deficit.
Not much changed for the Regents after the break. Rockford shot just 29.6% from the field in the second half, including 2-7 from beyond the three-point arc. Rockford did connect on 13-18 from the free throw line in the second half.
The Regents were led by junior Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville), who recorded her first double-double of the year with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Megan Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./ Pearl City) added 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Regents will return to the Seaver Center floor on Tuesday, when they host the Dominican University Stars for a 7:00 p.m. game.
