Freeport, Ill. — Rockford College announced the awarding of scholarships to two area residents. Jordan Shaver of Davis was awarded the Barber Colman Management Fund Scholarship.
Megan Lawler of Pearl City was named for the Marilyn Keating Vause Memorial Scholarship.
Values of the awards were not disclosed.

Ross Barker of Freeport, a sophomore at Illinois College in Jacksonville, won a divisional first place at the National Association of Teachers of Singing contest held at Olivet Nazarene University. As a winner he performed in a winners’ recital. The competition included 200 singers from eight colleges and universities plus entries from other private schools. Barker is a graduate of Orangeville High School and son of Linda Barker of Freeport and Creighton Barker of Orangeville.
