WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The year of firsts continued for the Rockford College cross country team on Saturday at the Northern Athletics Conference championships.

Two weeks ago, the Regents women’s team recorded its first team score in five years at the Dr. Robert Tucker Invitational at Loras College. The ladies continued their solid season with a fourth place finish at the NAC championship meet, the best team finish in the history of the Rockford College women’s cross country team. Junior Erin Filak-Stoffregen (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) paced the Regents with a third place finish, the highest individual finish in program history.  Freshman Genesis Cerrato (Las Vegas, Nev./ Valley) also placed in the top ten, finishing eighth.  Fellow freshman Taylor Inghram (Las Vegas, Nev./ Arbor View) and Barbara Duffy (Tampico, Ill./ Prophetstown) also finished 20th and 23rd, respectively.  Freshman Ashley Eggert (Machesney Park, Ill./ Harlem) capped the Regents scoring with a 49th place finish.

On the men’s side, junior Victor Reyes (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./ Benton Harbor) followed last year’s ninth place finish with a seventh place finish and a Rockford College course record with a time of 27:34.  Fellow junior Tyler Mendenhall (Prophetstown, Ill./ Prophetstown) recorded a second consecutive NAC top 20 finish with a 19th place performance.  Senior Randy Ebert (Belvidere, Ill./ Marengo) also finishes 26th for the Regents.

Seven of the 11 Regents that participated in the event were either named to the All-Northern Athletics Conference First Team or received Honorable Mention.  In total, nine Regents received some type of all-conference award.
