HANCOCK, Mich. – The play on the field shows a much improved Rockford College men’s soccer team, but looking at their record you would not believe it.  The Regents had managed just three ties in their 14 matches coming into Sunday’s non-conference match at Finlandia University.  The major culprit? A lack of offense evidenced by just six goals all season.  On Sunday, the Regents found their offense to the tune of an 8-0 win over the Lions.

The Regents focused on their offense from the opening whistle, recording 35 shots, 16 of those on net.  Six Regents received marks in the scoring column, led by sophomore Nathan Sweet’s (Flint, Mich./ Grand Blanc) hat trick.  Also tallying goals were freshmen Charles Hopson (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston Township), Sebastian Montalvo (El Paso, Texas/ Americas), and Oscar Ortega (Beloit, Wis./ Hononegah), junior Matt Nicholson (Stillman Valley, Ill./ Stillman Valley), and senior Ricky Gonzalez (Rockford, Ill./ Polo).

Rockford will continue their northern tour on Monday with a visit to Northland International University in Dunbar, Wisconsin before closing the campaign with a trip River Forest, Illinois to face #2 Dominican University.
