ROCKFORD (WIFR) --
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Rockford College Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement is holding its second annual cellphone drive to help domestic violence victims.

Collected phones will be split between Remedies and the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the cure.

Remedies will distribute these phones to women who are in crisis, which they can use as a lifeline when a dangerous situation arises.

The Suscan G. Komen Foundation will turn the phones into cash donations to use for their research.

Phones are being collected outside the mail desk on the 2nd floor at Burpee this week (Oct. 11-15) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Last year the group collected 105 phones: their goal this year is 125.
