Regents Impress at Falcon Invitational

MEQUON, Wis. – In their first invitational of the season, the Rockford College Cross Country teams continue to impress. After a solid performance at the Judson College Tune-Up dual meet, the Regents traveled to Mequon, Wisconsin to participate in the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcon Invitational.
On the ladies side, the combination of freshman Genesis Cerrato (Las Vegas, Nev./ Valley) and senior Erin Stoffregen (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) has established itself as an important player in the Northern Athletic Conference after Saturday’s performance. Cerrato and Stoffregen finished the 6K run in sixth and seventh positions out of 135 runners overall, and third and fourth among Division III runners. Cerrato’s time of 24:10.9 shaved 30 seconds off Rockford’s previous school record for the distance. Fellow freshman Taylor Inghram (Las Vegas, Nev./ Arbor View) finished 28th overall, 18th among Division III competitors.
The Regents men finished ninth, third best of all NAC teams in the competition. Juniors Victor Reyes Winthrop Harbor, Ill./ Benton Harbor) and Tyler Mendanhall (Prophetstown, Ill./ Prophetstown) paced Rockford with 16th and 24th place finishes, respectively. Reyes’ time of 27:35.7 was the third best time among NAC runners, while Mendanhall’s 27:56.1 was sixth. Randy Ebert (Belvidere, ill./ Marengo) (38th), Tim Caudle (Lillington, N.C./ Overhills) (60th), and Eric Woelbling (Flourissant, Mo./ McCleur North) (78th) closed out Rockford’s scoring. Freshmen Amour Murrow (Rockford, Ill./ Waterford Kamhlaba) and Luke Arenz (Stoddard, Wis./ LaCrosse Central) finished in 98th and 99th position.
The Regents will next travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to run in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warrior Invitational on October 2.
