ROCKFORD, Ill. – The season may have been over for the last few weeks for the Rockford College baseball team, but the honors are still coming in. Rockford’s senior third baseman was recently listed among the top Division III baseball players in the nation. Kyle Standridge (Carol Stream, Ill./ Glenbard North) received Honorable Mention on the 2010 D3Baseball.com All-American Team. Earlier this month, Standridge was named the Position Player of the Year by the Northern Athletics Conference.
Standridge was the offensive catalyst for the 2010 Regents. Not only did he lead the Regents in batting average (.473), hits (89), and runs (69), he recorded at least one hit in every game of the season. His 42 game hit streak is the third longest in the history of Division III baseball.
Nationally, the physical education major ranked among the best in batting average (#16), hits (#2), runs (#8), and triples (#3 – 9). His 1.64 runs per game average is also the best in the nation.
Standridge is the third Regent to be receive honors from the D3Baseball.com website. In 2007, Fabian Gomez was named 1st Team All-American, while Tim Rowe received Honorable Mention.
