ROCKFORD, Ill. - For the third time during the 2010 season, Regents senior Kyle Standridge (Carol Stream, Ill./ Glenbard North) has been named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. It is the fifth such award won by a Rockford College baseball player this season.

The Regents’ third baseman batted .500 for the week, with one double, two triples, and a home run. His lone home run of the year came on the very first pitch of the game in Rockford’s 8-7 win at #20 North Central College.

In games through May 2, Standridge ranked among the country’s best in batting average (#16 - .475), runs per game (#2 – 1.74), runs (#8 – 61), hits (#2 – 76), triples (#9 – 7), and triples per game (#11 – 0.2). Standridge is also among the toughest batters in the nation to strikeout, with just 7 strikeouts in 176 at bats.

His most significant accomplishment was extending his hit streak to an astounding 39 games, the 8th longest hitting streak in the country. The physical education major will look to move up that list and extend his streak as the Regents move into the NAC postseason tournament.

The Regents will open the NAC tournament on Friday, May 14 with a 12:30 tilt against Concordia University Wisconsin at Road Ranger Stadium.
