LISLE, Ill. – The Rockford College track team continued its impressive outdoor season under interim head coach Chad Zeman on Saturday as the Regents participated in the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational in Lisle, Illinois. Though team scores were not kept, individual performances were very good in the large crowd of runners.
On the women’s side, junior Erin Filak (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) finished 16th out of 46 runners and set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.38. Filak’s time is currently the fourth best 800 meter time in the NAC during the 2010 outdoor season. Fellow junior Maribel Guerrero (St. Elmo, Ill./St. Elmo) was impressive in her first attempt at the discuss throw. Guerrero registered a throw of 83’ 4.03”, among the top 20 throws in the NAC this season.
Senior Matt Lindgren (Oak Forest, Ill./ Oak Forest) continued to lead the men’s team with another victory in the 800 meters in a time of 1:56.96. Lindgren entered the race as the number one seed and held form besting over 50 other runners in the event.
Rockford will next take the track on Friday night as they travel to River Forest, Illinois to run in the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational.
