ROCKFORD, Ill. – For the third time this season, a Rockford College baseball player was rewarded for his extraordinary efforts on the baseball diamond. For the second consecutive week, that player was senior third baseman Kyle Standridge (Carol Stream, Ill./ Glenbard North). Standridge was again named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. Standridge joins fellow senior Mike Catalano (Chicago, Ill./ Notre Dame) as Regents receiving the award this season.

Standridge, a physical education major, hit an astounding .692 (18-26) for the week, leading the Regents to a 5-1 record last week. The biggest of those hits may have been his third against Lakeland College, a walk-off, game-winning single to left field for a 7-6 victory. Standridge also scored 14 runs and drove in nine more. In addition, Standridge has established a new Regents’ record for longest hitting streak with base hits in 24 consecutive games.

Not only is Standridge one of the leading hitters on the Regents team and in the NAC, he is also among the best in the country. His hitting streak is tied for the longest in the country and through Sunday’s games, he is listed among Division III’s best in batting average (#26 - .477), runs per game (#1 – 1.88), runs (#24 – 45), and triples (#16 – 5).
