"The Regents 5K is a great event not just for Rockford College students, but the entire Rockford community,” said interim Athletic Director Kristyn King. "It gives our students an opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills while helping such a great cause in the Special Olympics.”
Through the first two years of the event, RAGE has managed to raise nearly $1,000 to support Special Olympics.
Participants are not required to run the course, instead, they can walk, jog, or skip through the 3.1 mile course, while runs through Rockford’s 130 acre campus. Awards will be provided for top finishers in several classes.
"The event has grown tremendously in the two years since we started it,” said Rockford College senior and RAGE Vice-President Matt Lindgren. "Rockford has such a great community of runners and people who want to help others. That combination makes for a great event for a great cause.”
