LOVES PARK, Ill. – In what has been an up and down season thus far for the Rockford College baseball team, the Regents completed what may be their most complete win on Monday, an 8-3 defeat of visiting Marin University at Road Ranger Stadium.
The Regents pounded out 12 hits and scored in five of their eight at bats en route to the win. Balance was key to Rockford’s offense, with all nine players reaching base at least once and seven of them crossing the plate. Senior TJ Stanfield (Mokena, Ill./ Joliet JC) led Rockford with three hits, while seniors Kyle Standridge (Carol Stream, Ill./ Glenbard North) and Tyler Clay (Sammamish, Wash./ Eastlake), junior Jordan Shaver (Davis Junction, Ill./ Rock Valley CC), and sophomore Curt Daughenbaugh (Dakota, Ill./ Dakota) each recorded two base knocks.
On the mound, Will Kuchelmeister (Kaukauna, Wis./ Kaukauna) grabbed his first win of the year, scattering five hits over seven innings. The junior hurler allowed two earned runs, while striking out three and walking just one. Junior Alan Jankowski (Des Plaines, Ill./ Maine West) pitched the final two shutout innings for his first save of the season.
Though the Regents played a complete game, the day was not complete, as the second game of the doubleheader was postponed due to lightening.
Rockford’s next scheduled game will be on Wednesday, April 7 at 3:00 p.m. when the Elmhurst College Blue Jays will visit Road Ranger Stadium.
