Two Regents Net NAC Hoops Honors

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Two Rockford College women’s basketball players were honored on Wednesday night as the Northern Athletics Conference released its 2009-10 all-conference teams. Junior Megan Lawler and sophomore Britney Curry were each named to the All-Northern Athletics Conference Second Team.
Megan Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./ Pearl City), a physical education major, led the Regents in scoring (14.9 ppg.), rebounds (9.2 rpg.), and steals (2.3 spg.). Her 4.6 offensive rebounds per game also led the NAC. Lawler recorded 11 double-doubles in her 24 games played, including four games of at least 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville), a member of the 2008-09 NAC All-Freshman Team, was second to Lawler on the team in scoring at 14.3 points and rebounding 6.3 boards per game, while leading the team with 33.7 minutes per game. Curry was listed among the NAC’s top 20 in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.
Rockford finished the season 8-18, falling at Wisconsin Lutheran College in the opening round of the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference tournament.
