RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Rockford College men’s basketball team avenged last month’s home loss to Concordia University Chicago on Saturday with a 75-68 road win to close out their regular season. The Regents go into the postseason having won five out of their last six games.

The game’s first 20 minutes were a nip and tuck affair, as neither team managed to extend their lead past four points. By the break, the 27-27 score was the sixth tie of the game. Rockford immediately seized control of the second half, pushing their advantage to nine points in just four minutes. Rockford’s hot shooting (61.9% from the field), rebounding dominance (23-10advantage), and 22 made free throws in the second half helped Rockford control the game’s second stanza and ice the win.
Junior Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) led Rockford with 23 points, including 19 after the break. The senior trio of Andrew Weber (Roscoe, Ill./ Boylan), Randon Williams (Chicago, Ill./ Westinghouse), and Danny Armelin Jr. (Gonzales, Texas/ Gonzales) combined for 35 points and 20 rebounds for the Regents.

Rockford will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday night to face the MSOE Raiders in the first rounds of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament.
