MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Rockford College women’s basketball team closed their regular season on a high note, winning consecutive road games for the first time all season with Saturday’s 62-59 win at MSOE. The back-to-back wins at Marian and MSOE mark the Regents’ first winning streak of the season.
Rockford struggled early in the first half, trailing by 10 points late, en route to a 32-27 halftime deficit. The Regents outscored the Raiders 20-9 through the first 10 minutes of the second half, to take a 47-41 lead. MSOE responded with an 11-0 run of their own, establishing a five point advantage with six minutes to play. A 10-2 Regent’s run gave Rockford a three point lead with 150 seconds to play, a lead Rockford would not relinquish. The Regents connected on four consecutive free throws to ice the win.
Sophomore Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville) led three Regents in double figure scoring with 18 points. Junior Megan Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./ Pearl City) and senior Danielle Townsend (Machesney Park, Ill./ Boylan) combined for 24 points for Rockford.
