Regents Cage the Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Rockford College women’s basketball team rebounded from Tuesday’s disappointing home loss with a 67-58 road win at Marian University. The Regents grabbed control midway through the first half and never looked back. Twelve first half points each from juniors Megan Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./ Pearl City) and Melissa Swaziek (Loves Park, Ill./ Harlem) paced the Regents en route to a 36-23 halftime lead.
After extending their advantage to a game-high 17 points early in the second half, The Regents allowed Marian to go on a 19-4 run, cutting Rockford’s lead to two. Rockford immediately responded pushing their lead back to 15 with a 21-8 run f their own.
Swaziek led the Regents with season-high 22 points on 10-15 shooting. Lawler recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Rockford will travel to MSOE on Saturday to face the Raiders in the Northern Athletics Conference Challenge Game before opening NAC Tournament play on Wednesday night.
