FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Rockford College men’s basketball team extended their win streak to three games with Wednesday’s 85-82 victory at Marian University. Neither team really managed to gain control of the scoreboard, as the game featured 14 lead changes and 14 ties, the last of which was at 77 with just under 90 seconds to play. A late 7-0 run after the final tie, including four consecutive made free throws sealed the victory.
Regents’ junior Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) led Rockford with game-highs of 34 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Leon Alford (Chicago, Ill./ St. Laurence) tallied 17 points, including 9-9 from the free throw line, and grabbed eight boards. Fellow seniors Danny Armelin (Gonzales, Texas/ Gonzales) and Andrew Weber (Roscoe, Ill./ Boylan) added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Rockford will continue their road trip on Saturday, February 13, when they travel to Madison, Wis. to face the Edgewood College Eagles. The men will tip at 4:15 p.m. just after the ladies, who open the NAC doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
