ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford College women’s basketball team dropped its third consecutive game on Wednesday night, a 51-46 defeat at the hands of the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. This was the second tough loss at the hands of the NAC’s best team of the season for the Regents.
The game’s first half was an even affair, tied at 25 after 20 minutes. The score was tied four times, as the Regents continued to fight each time the Falcons tried to grab the game’s momentum. Rockford shot 45% from the field in the first half and outrebounded the Falcons 91-13 in the first half.
Rockford grabbed a lead early in the second half, but the Falcons embarked on a 16-2 run, establishing a 44-34 advantage midway through the stanza. The Regents responded with a 7-0 run, cutting their deficit to four point with just under six minutes to play, but managed to score only two more points over the game’s final 5:44.
Sophomore Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville) led the Regents with 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Junior Megan Lawler (Pearl City, ill./ Pearl City) added 12 points and eight boards for Rockford.
Rockford will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. on Saturday to face Alverno College. Tip is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
