LISLE, Ill. – After a three game losing skip, the Rockford college men’s basketball team got back to their winning ways on Saturday, with a 70-60 road win over the Benedictine University Eagles. The Regents used balanced scoring and tough defense to secure the wire-to-wire win.
Rockford’s offense was paced by junior forward Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) and senior Randon Williams (Chicago, Ill./ Westinghouse), who each recorded double-doubles. Malone recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds. Williams messed around and nearly got a triple double, tallying 15 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Andrew Weber (Roscoe, Ill./ Boylan) added 10 points for Rockford.
Defensively, Rockford held the Eagles to just 38.2% shooting from the field, including 5-25 from beyond the arc. The Regents also forced 15 turnovers, including 11 steals, 5 by Malone.
Rockford will try to extend their winning streak on Tuesday when the welcome Maranatha Baptist Bible College to the Seaver Center.
