ROCKFORD — Several organizations are holding a strategy meeting Thursday at Rockford College with the goal of creating greater awareness of the value of human service organizations and the budget struggles they are undergoing.
Nonprofits are experiencing declines in donations, cuts in state and federal aid, and increasing delays in payments even as need for their services is growing because of the high unemployment and poverty rates.
The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and will run until noon in the Burpee Center at Rockford College. The Illinois Partners for Human Service, the Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence and the newly formed Human Services Advocacy Collaborative of Northern Illinois will be involved.
