Students, faculty and staff at Rockford College this week are remembering those who perished in Haiti following a devastating earthquake last Wednesday.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti at this difficult time,” said Rockford College President Dr. Robert L. Head. "The entire Rockford College community mourns the loss of life and supports the Haitian people in their time of need.”
Head recommends that students, faculty and staff respond to the call for help in one of the following ways:
"Rockford College has long been known for its outreach, not only in the community but around the world as well,” said Head. "While needs in Haiti may change in the weeks and months ahead, now is the time for all of us to extend our heart and our hand by donating to people who are suffering immeasurable distress.”
- Text HAITI to 90999 and a $10 donation will be made to the International Response Fund for Haiti ($10 will be added to your phone bill – this method is endorsed by the U.S. State Department).
- Call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
- Donate online at www.redcross.org.
- Send a check to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013 and put "International Response Fund” in the memo line.
