ROCKFORD, Ill. – For the third consecutive game, the Rockford College men’s basketball team got off to a poor start.  For the second time in those three games, that poor start led to a Rockford loss, this time a 80-67 home loss to Concordia University Cougars, dropping Rockford to 2-3 in the NAC and 7-5 overall.

Just six minutes into the game, the Cougars had established a 12-4 lead.  Rockford head coach Ryan Rebsom again made wholesale substitutions hoping that his second unit could again pull Rockford back into the game.  With just under six minutes to play, the reserves had done just that, cutting the deficit to one point.  But by halftime, Rockford was back to trailing 36-30.

After the break, things just got worse for the Regents.  Rockford shot just 26.8% from the field, including connecting on just one of their 10 three-point attempts.   Concordia extended their advantage to 20 points midway through the stanza.

Junior reserve Tyler Nauman (Hinckley, Ill./ Hinckley-Big Rock) led the Regents with 17 points.  Senior guard Danny Armelin (Gonzales, Texas/ Gonzales) added 13 points.  Junior forward Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Regents will try to regain that winning feeling on Wednesday when they welcome the Edgewood College Eagles to the Seaver Center.
