GALESBURG, Ill – Rockford failed to continue the solid play from Saturday’s win at Beloit College when they traveled to Galesburg, Ill. to face Knox College.  Rockford fell behind early and came up just short, losing 62-59 in overtime.

Rockford trailed 37-24 at the break, after shooting only 35.7% from the field and 4-10 from the free throw line, while the Prairie Fire connected on 16-30 in the first half.  Rockford also committed 1 first half turnover, leading to 16 Knox points.

Rockford turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, using a sustained 20-6 run to take their first lead of the game with just over seven minutes to play.  Both team tried to control the game’s final five minutes.  Trailing 54-51, sophomore Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville) connected on a three-pointer to tie the game at 54 with just seconds to play, sending the game into overtime.  Unfortunately for the Regents, the jum0shots went cold as Rockford went 0-5 from the floor.  Their only points in overtime came from the charity stripe.

Megan Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./ Pearl City) recorded her seventh double-double of the season, with game highs of 19 points and 16 rebounds.  Freshman reserve Erika McCall (Henry, Ill./ Henry Senachwine) also recorded a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds.

Rockford will return to the Seaver Center on Saturday as they host the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in a women’s and men’s doubleheader.  The ladies will open the action at 2:00 p.m. with the men to follow.
