Rockford College stands to receive $300,000 in federal funds for campus technology upgrades under a proposed 2010 Omnibus Appropriations bill. The announcement was made recently by Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Egan, and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

School officials say the funds will allow the college to purchase technology for its library, science classrooms, and a computer lab. John McNamara, vice president for college development, said the funding is another step in a multi-year program to improve teaching and learning through improved technological resources.

According to the U.S. Department of Education: "In a modern classroom, educational technology improves teaching and learning while also equipping students with the skills needed for tomorrow’s workforce.”
