Regents' Malone Nets NAC Honor

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford College men’s basketball team split their first two games of the season, defeating Greenville College 98-75 and falling to Eureka College 91-90, but it was the play of junior Robert Malone (Stephens, Ark./ Stephens) that made the Northern Athletics Conference take notice. Based on his first week, Malone was named Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 22.
In the season opener against Greenville, Malone netted a game-high 22 points on 8-12 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds in just 23 minutes of play. Malone, a forward, continued his solid play against Eureka College. Though the Regents fell 91-90, Malone led the team with 35 points on 16-19 shooting and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Through two games, the physical education major has averaged 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 77% from the field and 80% from the field.
Rockford’s next game will home game will be on Saturday, November 28, when the Regents host Clarke College at the Seaver Center at 4:00 p.m.
