ROCKFORD, Ill. – Thought the Rockford College Regents football managed only one win on the field, the dedication and hard work of several team members did not go unnoticed by the head coaches of the Northern Athletics Conference. That fact was proven last week when eight players were honored by the conference with All-NAC recognition.
Freshman Jeremiah Montgomery (Chicago, Ill./ Morgan Park) was the only Regents to be named to the first team. Montgomery, who also plays defensive back, was named to the team as a punt/ kickoff returner. The freshman led the NAC with an average of 19.1 yards per kickoff return, including a 77-yard touchdown against Wisconsin Lutheran.
Junior captain Jason Hosey (Chicago, Ill./ Prosser) was named to the second team. Rockford’s leading rusher was not only among the toughest runners in the conference, but he was also among the NAC’s most feared blockers.
Five players also received honorable Mention. Kenny McNeal (Chicago, Ill./ Prosser) Sr. Running Back Luke Clausen (Rockton, Ill./ Hononegah) Jr. Defensive Line Chris Scott (Morrison, Ill./ Morrison) Jr. Defensive Line Brent Alexander (LeRoy, Ill./ LeRoy) Jr. Linebacker Josh Ross (Elgin, Ill./ Larkin) Jr. Linebacker
Sophomore Nathan Kilburn (Richmond Hill, Ga./ Richmond Hill) was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
