Plans for a nearly 93-thousand square foot sports facility appear to be scoring big locally.

Stateline leaders got their first look at a completed six month feasibility study. It shows that Rockford will benefit from a 22 acre-indoor sports center. The facility would house 13 basketball courts, dorm rooms, and soccer fields. It would become host to annual summer sports camps. Park District officials estimate in the long term, the project would bring nearly *45 million dollars to our community considering local athletes can stay home and visiting families would spend money in area hotels and restaurants

The complex could cost up to 14 million dollars. The Park District is still trying to decide where the facility will go.. Officials want to either add on to Sportscore 2 in Loves Park.. or utilize the dorms at Rockford College.
