Coach King Looks to Silence Thunder

ROCKFORD, IL – Rockford College head softball coach and interim athletic director Kristyn King will join a celebrity team for a slow pitch softball game versus the Rockford Thunder professional softball team on Saturday night at Thunder Park in Roscoe.
King, who just completed her 18th year at the helm of Rockford’s softball program, will team with celebrities including Israel Idonije of the Chicago Bears, Northern Illinois alum and San Diego Charger Larry English, Stone and Double T of 104.9 the X, and several members of the Rock River Raptors. The celebrity team will face Thunder players, including two-time Olympian pitcher Cat Osterman, as part of the 2009 Thunder fan fest weekend.
In their inaugural year of 2007, King was the only one of five local celebrities to get a hit off Osterman in a preseason promotion for the Thunder.
Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 6:00. Admission id $5, but all fans wearing jerseys from the Chicago Bears, Rock River Raptors, or Rockford Ice Hogs will receive buy one, bet one free admission. Thunder Park is located at 5444 Swanson Road, just off Route 251 (2nd Street).
