Professors Pippitt, Walters honored for teaching excellence

Two faculty members at Rockford College have been honored for excellence in teaching.

The two are Dr. Martha Pippitt, biology professor and chair of the biology department, who received the Excellence in Teaching Award, and Dr. Patricia Walters, professor of religious studies, who received the award for teaching excellence for adjunct faculty.

Pippitt has taught at the college for 27 years and will be retiring at the conclusion of the current school year. Walters has been an adjunct professor at the college for two years.

The awards were presented at the conclusion of the annual Honors Day Convocation at the college May 6.  Some 70 students were also honored for leadership and achievement  in their own disciplines and in co-curricular activities.
