ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford College students remember an emergency that turned into a tragedy on another campus.

It was two years ago today a gunman opened fire on the Virginia Tech campus, killing 32 people. Students, staff and faculty at Rockford College wore Virginia Tech's colors, some along with their own school's colors, to show their solidarity and support. Some even took a moment of silence to remember the day and the victims.

Rockford College Senior Lisa Hiskey says, "The tragedy of it was something I think will never leave us and it's something that affected us a lot more than some people realize."

Hiskey says she saw quite a few students wearing Virginia Tech colors Thursday.
