LISLE, IL – For the second time this season, junior Matt Lindgren (Oak Forest, IL / Oak Forest) has established a new outdoor record for the Regents track and field team.
Last week, it was a solid 4:02.60 1500-meter record and today it was a blistering 1:55.95 800-meter record at the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational for the four-time Northern Athletic Conference 800 Meter Champion.
It also proved to be a good day for teammates Tyler Mendenhall (Prophetstown, IL / Prophetstown) and Randy Ebert (Marengo, IL / Marengo) who both ran personal bests in the 1500-meters with times of 4:20.01 and 4:27.48 respectively.
Warm weather usually brings improved track times and according to Regents Coach Roger Fredrickson. “We’ve looked very good over the past several weeks and the end of another successful season is coming to a close. As the weather warms up, there’s a renewed excitement and commitment to the final weeks of preparation and the pursuit of new opportunities and expectations. Our guys have a consistent pattern of setting realistic goals, reaching those goals, and starting the process all over again. Just like the end of one season simply becoming a stepping stone and natural flow into another - we’re ready for today but always planning for tomorrow.”
The Regents will be competing next at the Concordia University Cougar Invitational on Friday, April 24th, in River Forest, Illinois.
