Rockford, IL- We spoke to a local political expert to see what he thought about the governor's plea.
He says the governor did make one good point in his speech.
Bob Evans, Rockford College Professor, said, "He made a legal argument that they shouldnt impeach him for policy reasons. Thats a valid argument."
But Evans says most of the governor's 45 minute speech wasn't convincing because it was too long.
He also argues, the governor should have made his appeal earlier if he wanted senators to change their minds. He also doesn't think the governor would be successful in an appeal of the case to the state Supreme Court.
"The supreme court is likely to say, this is something for the state Senate to decide."
Evans believes Blagojevich used the speech to prepare for arguments in his criminal case.
