EUREKA, IL – The Rockford College softball team continued their .500 theme from their spring trip as they split two games at Eureka College on Saturday, losing the first 8-0 and winning the second 6-5.

Rockford would not get any offensive flow during the day’s opening game, notching only three hits on the game.  Rockford got a bit of its mojo back early in game two, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.  Eureka responded with three runs over the next three innings to retake a 3-2 advantage, but Rockford responded with one of their own in the top of the fourth to tie the game.  After Eureka plated two more runs, the top of the Regents batting order cam through with two walks and two singles, leading to three runs to give Rockford the 6-5 victory.  Rockford’s top five batters recorded at least one hit, while winning pitcher Aletha Cunningham (Byron, IL/ Byron) helped her cause with two RBI’s.  Cunningham scattered eight hits, striking out five batters and allowed three earned runs over seven innings.

Rockford will travel to Milwaukee, WI on Wednesday to face Wisconsin Lutheran College in Northern Athletics Conference action.
