Students from one local college learned an important lesson today, that the gift of giving can really make a difference. More than six thousand cans of food arrived today at the Rockford Rescue Mission. Rockford College students and athletes have been collecting the cans for the past month. In our current economic state, the number of people looking for help this holiday season has increased. Rockford College students say they're just thankful to help someone else this Thanksgiving.
"Its definitely a good feeling to be able to drop off all this food off to people less fortunate than us. Specially this time of year with the holidays coming up,its really nice to know we might be giving a meal to someone to have, so its just a nice feeling", said Brad Pemberton II.
Rockford College was tops in can collection among the 13 schools in the Northern Athletic Conference.
