Rockford College’s new president, Robert L. Head, will be formally inaugurated during a ceremony Nov. 7, 3 p.m. in the college’s Maddox Theatre.

Head, formerly president at Urbana University in Ohio, started his job at Rockford College June 1. He also spent a decade in the banking industry prior to his entry into higher education.

The ceremony will feature the appearance of two former Rockford College presidents, John Howard and William Shields. It will also include an official welcome from Rockford mayor Larry Morrissey and various members of the college community.

During the event, Rockford College board chair Ray Wood will present the official time-honored charge to Head, who is the college’s 17th president.  A reception will follow in the theatre lobby. Due to space limitations, the ceremony is by invitation-only.

Founded in 1847, Rockford College is a private four-year liberal arts college offering more than 70 majors, minors, and concentrations.
