Mequon, WI – Racing along the bluffs of Lake Michigan and through the scenic wooded trails on the campus of Concordia University, Rockford College put five runners in the top fifteen and ended Milwaukee School of Engineering’s attempt to win their 11th consecutive Conference Championship.
The Regents, led by Tony Hardin (St. Peters, MO / Howell Central) 4th, Seth Lagerhausen (Mesa, AZ / Dobson) 6th, Matt Lindgren (Oak Forest, IL / Oak Forest) 8th, Victor Reyes (Winthrop Harbor, IL, / Zion Benton) 10th, Tyler Mendenhall (Prophetstown, IL / Prophetstown) 15th, Randy Ebert, (Belvidere, IL / Marengo) 26th, and Jeff Orlowski (Ottawa IL / Ottawa) 49th, scored 43 points to runner-up MSOE’s 48.
For Rockford College, the race was defined by the consistent pattern of individual improvement from week to week and month to month – averaging over a 1:30 improvement from the first time they ran the course in September.
The women’s team finished 9th behind an “All Conference” 12th place performance by Audra Carlson (Winnebago, IL / Winnebago) and a strong race from senior Hannah Stravers (Augusta, MI / Gull Lake) 38th.
According to Regents Coach Roger Fredrickson, “We had families who came to support us from as far away as Missouri, Michigan, New York, and Arizona. The weather was perfect and we simply had a collective chemistry that allowed us to put it all together when it had to be done.”
All Conference: Tony Hardin, Seth Lagerhausen, Matt Lindgren, Victor Reyes, and Audra Carlson.
Honorable Mention: Tyler Mendenhall
Men’s Conference Freshman of the Year: Victor Reyes
Men’s Coach of the Year: Coach Fredrickson
