ROCKFORD, IL – Midway through his senior cross country season, Rockford College’s Tony Hardin (St. Peters, MO/ Howell Central) has been a dominant force. His leadership abilities have been a major asset to the six freshmen and sophomores on the Regents’ men’s cross country team. His leadership has also been displayed in his performances on the cross country course. Those efforts were rewarded on Tuesday when Hardin was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week.
On Saturday, September 27, the Rockford College cross country teams ran with some of the best runners in the country at the Augustana College Brissman/ Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, IL. Hardin completed the 8K course in a time of 26:34.4, a time good enough to place Hardin 23rd out of over 340 runners. The time is also amongst the best in the Northern Athletics Conference this season.
The Regents will take a short break from intercollegiate competition before their next meet. Rockford will host their annual Alumni Race on Saturday, October 11 as part of the Regents Homecoming festivities. The Regents will then travel to Winneconne, WI to run in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday, October 18.
